Sunrise beach in Muizenberg resembled a war zone as members of the SANDF performed a live demonstration as part of the 2019 Armed Forces Day Celebrations and the commemoration of the sinking of the SS Mendi. Events for that week leading up to the main parade on Thursday 21 February in Blouberg included a fan park at Mandela Stadium in Khayelitsha, inter-faith church service, wreath-laying and a capability demonstration night shoot at Muizenberg Sunrise Beach on February 19 February.
