Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 to help recognize, and celebrate, the importance recycling plays in preserving our precious primary resources and securing the future of our planet. The Kraaifontein Integrated Waste Management Facility has a drop-off facility, materials recovery facility (MRF), a refuse transfer station (RTS) and a green waste chipping area. At the “clean” MRF the dry, clean recyclables are separated, baled and sold by a contractor. All general waste is accepted at the public drop-off. The waste is also compacted into closed containers and transported in bulk to Vissershok prior to landfilling. Materials Accepted at this drop off includes:Garden waste, Motor oil, Cans and metal, Paper, Cardboard, Glass, Plastic, e-Waste, Clean builder's rubble and Polystyrene.
