South Africa. Hout Bay. 230319. Cape hake (Merluccius capensis) is a demersal fish (generally living or feeding near to the seabed), silver grey in colour with an average length of about 50 cm. It is a popular fish delicacy among Capetonians enjoying it fried, pickled (especially over the Easter period on Good Friday when Christians substitute fish for meat) or as takeaways with french fries or chips.
