Only seven Grade 7 pupils had turned up at Nomsa Mapongwana Primary School in South Africa's Western Cape province on June 1. Parents, teachers and pupils were confused by conflicting reports after National Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga on Sunday postponed the reopening of schools to June 8, while the Western Cape Education Department said schools would reopen as planned on June 1.
