Discovered in 1940, Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid. It is one of 113 cannabinoids in cannabis plants. It accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract. It can be taken into the body in various ways like inhaling cannabis smoke or vapor or dropped into the mouth. It is also mixed with coconut oil and other ingredients to create a multitude of products like moisturisers, lip balms, and body washes. Due to a lack of studies, there is no conclusive evidence of the side effects of using CBD oil in any form. The CBD market is growing steadily especially with the current South African legislation that allows for the distribution and use thereof. Goodleaf, a CBD oil and other related products store situated in Cape Town gives some insight into the CBD oil market. Video Courtney Africa/African News Agency(ANA)
