A DETERMINED teenager has taken to ballet despite losing her leg in a horrific bus crash at the age of two. Pollyanna Hope, now 15, sustained critical injuries when struck by a bus back in 2007. The crash took her grandmother’s life and seriously injured her mother who were together with Pollyanna at the time of the accident. As a result, Pollyanna underwent 14 surgeries at that time and was required to have her right leg amputated below the knee. But the resilient teenager didn’t let that get in her way and has pursued her dreams of being a top ballet dancer. Pollyanna, from Hertfordshire, who started dancing at the age of seven, told Truly: “When I dance, I feel free. I feel I can express my emotions through the movement. I want to keep dancing as long as I'm able.” The family’s tragedy led Pollyanna’s mum, Sarah Hope, to fight for NHS funding for children's prosthetics. Sarah together with her sister have founded Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope – a charity that helps some of the most vulnerable child amputees in the world.
