Here is a story about a Sphynx cat that looks like a bat because of a rare neurological condition. Readers, meet Lucy, the Sphynx cat who lives in Isreal with her owner Zilla Bergamini, 44, and has a rare condition that affects her spine and makes her head look larger than that of other cats, reported Bored Panda.
Bergamini says that it was love at first sight for her when she saw Lucy. She remembers that Lucy looked adorably different from her littermates and when she was taken to the vet they learned that Lucy suffers from a rare neurological condition known as hydrocephalus which caused a build-up of fluid in her brain. The doctor didn't think it was worth performing surgery on Lucy, but this adorable feline proved everyone wrong.
It has been more than a year since Lucy was diagnosed and she seems to be living her best life, all credit goes to her loving and caring owner. Bergamini, in a conversation with Love Meow, said, "I began reading everything I could about hydrocephalus and all possible outcomes. I looked for the best veterinarian neurological center in the country and I already started setting up a fund to pay for her surgery—if needed—or medication."
Lucy was only two months old when she found her forever home and Bergamini already had two rescue cats before she adopted Lucy. While she was excited to bring in Lucy, her neurological condition made her a bit nervous. For the first few days, Bergamini said that Lucy cried constantly and her human was scared when she noticed that the kitty was not eating for the past two days. She immediately took Lucy to the vet and the doctor said that Lucy would need eye drops for the rest of her life. But Bergamini was not going to take any chance and made an appointment with the best veterinarian in her area.
