A new study shows that older adults can extend their lives by taking blood pressure medications as prescribed.
The data supporting the findings were published Monday in the journal Hypertension.
Researchers said; "our findings definitely suggest that even in very frail people, anti-hypertensive treatment reduces the risk of death".
Researchers found that adults who used blood pressure medicine as prescribed lowered their risk for death by up to 44%.
UPI reports that over 60% of all Americans over age 65 are living with high blood pressure.
