A BIKE TAXI service staffed and run by the disabled community is helping to change people’s lives in Chennai, India. ‘Maa Ullaa’ - which translates as ‘enjoy your journey with the disabled’ – was set up by owner Mohamed Gaddaffee. Starting in 2016, 37-year-old Mohamed was fully aware of the lack of opportunities for the disabled community and wanted to make a change. Mohamed, a disabled man himself after contracting polio at just 10 months old, now has 240 people registered and using his app. He told Truly: “With Maa Ulaa we are helping many disabled people. I’m glad I can help the community. Now I have become an owner, I can offer people jobs and this gives me immense satisfaction.”
