Buffalo Police Officers Charged With Assaulting 75-Year-Old Protester Unlisted Video
Two police officers in Buffalo, New York, were charged with assault Saturday.
A video showed the officers shoving 75-year-old protester Martin Gugino in recent demonstrations over the death of George Floyd.
Law enforcement was in the process of clearing demonstrators from Niagara Square around an 8 pm curfew.
The pair of officers pushed Gugino backward, causing his head to hit the pavement, spilling blood as officers walk past.
One officer leaned down to check on the injured man before another officer urged the colleague to keep walking.
The video of the encounter sparked outrage online as demonstrators took to cities across the world to protest Floyd’s death.
Dozens of Buffalo police officers angered over their fellow officers' suspensions stepped down from the department’s crowd control unit Friday.
According to Newser, the resigning officers did not leave their jobs altogether.
