Reuters reports that Minneapolis police released Omar Jimenez, a CNN reporter who was arrested with his production crew while live reporting on TV.
Jimenez, was covering the violent protests in the city after the death of George Floyd, a black man who was filmed gasping for breath, as a white police officer knelt on his neck.
Floyd later died.
Police officers offered no reason for Jimenez's arrest.
Reuters reports that Jimenez is also black and most of the police officers that arrested him were white.
The CNN reporter and his crew were released from jail about an hour later.
After he was released Jimenez said, "What gave me one bit of comfort was that it happened on live TV."
He added “You don’t have to doubt my story it’s not filtered in any way; you saw it with your own eyes.”
