Study reveals why advanced prostate cancer is rising in men over 50

In 2012, the US Preventive Services Task Force advised against prostate screenings for all, because the risks of the test outweighed the benefits.
By 2017, cases of advanced prostate cancer increased in men 50 and older, while cases of early stage disease declined.
Lead study author Ahmedin Jemal says the increase in advanced stages of prostate cancer likely occurred because of the lack of screenings.
Every year in America there are approximately 192,000 cases of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is a common types of cancer, and often prostate cancer grows slowly. But without early diagnosis, cases can escalate.
