Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will testifying before a Senate committee on May 12.
Fauci, along with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield and other administration representatives are set to go before the Republican-led Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to talk about the government's response to the coronavirus.
The House created a Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis to police Trump’s coronavirus response efforts, but the White House says it will not allow Fauci to testify before the committee because the president contends they are “a bunch of Trump haters.”

Trump and Fauci haven't always seen eye to eye when it comes to how the Task Force is handling the pandemic. (See the video above for examples)
The president fueled speculation more than once that he may fire Fauci, especially after retweeting #FireFauci hashtag following a moment when Fauci appeared to contradict the president on a timetable for lockdowns.
The infectious disease expert later clarified that he was not criticizing Trump when he said an earlier U.S. shutdown would have saved lives. He said Trump listened to his recommended restrictions.
Fauci also told Politico that "you don't want to go to war with a president,” but added "you got to walk the fine balance of making sure you continue to tell the truth.”
