Megachurch Pastor Brian Gibson is calling for houses of worship across the country to exercise their First Amendment rights and push the government to allow them to peacefully gather and open their doors.
Gibson, senior pastor of HIS Church in Owensboro, KY, launched an online petition to encourage churches, synagogues and mosques to open their doors while continuing to practice social distancing.
He says state bans on church services and religious assemblies are infringing on constitutional rights.
"Don't let the government dictate to you what your fundamental American rights are. It's time to stand up for liberty," he told David Brody, host of The Pod's Honest Truth.

Gibson says it's "ironic" that places such as grocery stores could have hundreds of people inside their building at any one time, but faith-based groups can't be trusted to implement the same safety procedures.
He said he'll willing to take on critics who say it's too soon to gather before state leaders have lifted lockdown orders.
"So whoever disagrees and pushes back against me, I just celebrated as American a big honor for them that we have this freedom this nation."
