An adult male leopard found itself on the verge of drowning in a 45-feet-deep well in Otur village located near Junnar in India on May 20.

Officials from Maharashtra Forest Department and Wildlife SOS rushed to the spot and saved the big cat’s life!

The leopard’s panic-stricken roars filled the air, drawing out the occupants of Khodad village
located in Otur, to the scene. Struggling to stay afloat by paddling for hours had drained the seemingly powerful leopard, and it was at the fatal risk of drowning in waist deep water.

Rescuers lowered a makeshift platform for the leopard to climb onto for temporary support. They then lowered a trap cage into the well. After a few attempts, the leopard successfully climbed into the trap cage and was rescued from a near death situation.
