Bullfinches are unique birds that our ancestors called mockingbirds. They were pleased to be kept at home, while the birds easily remembered popular tunes. This bird imitated voices and sounds without special efforts, therefore it was called the “Russian parrot”.

Representatives of bullfinches are believed to be brown / Nepalese buffalo fin, which inhabit southern Asia.

As a rule, these birds remain for the winter without leaving their nesting habitat. Often they form numerous flocks, which makes them very noticeable, especially for natural enemies. At the first signs of the onset of spring, they try to hide from prying eyes in the dense thickets of green spaces.

Being in natural conditions, bullfinches live for about 12 and a half years, and in captivity, with proper care for more than 15 years.
