Major airlines have said they now require all passengers to wear face masks.
According to Business Insider, American Airlines, Delta, and United made the announcement this week.
Other US airlines are also adopting the policy, describing it as a way to protect passengers and crewmembers.
The new rules will begin to be implemented over the next two weeks.
All of the airlines are encouraging passengers to wear face coverings voluntarily in the meantime.
Globally there are more than 3 million cases of COVID-19, with a death toll over 230,000.
