Days after saying that a lot of the media “actually has been really fair” in its coverage of the coronavirus crisis, President Donald Trump on Thursday called several news outlets “dishonest.”
He blasted The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The New York Times for reporting “fake” and “corrupt” news.
“It amazes me when I read the things that I read,” he said at a White House press briefing.
He pointed to two governors, both Democrats: Andrew Cuomo of New York and Gavin Newsome of California as some leaders he's been working with, and getting praise from, in rolling out crisis measures.
Trump said The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post were “very dishonest media sources," and added that he “barely” reads the New York Times.
After being asked by a reporter Monday at a press conference if rumors about a potential national curfew signaled a disinformation campaign, Trump praised the media.
"That I can’t tell you if they are or not," the president explained. "I think a lot of the media actually has been very fair. I think people are pulling together on this. I really think the media has been very fair."
