New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had a special guest during his daily press briefing Thursday.
Brother and CNN anchor Chris Cuomo showed up via remote from the basement of his home in New York City where he has been quarantined since getting diagnosed earlier this week.
“I see why it takes people out, you got to rest, because your body has a fever because it’s fighting the disease,” Chris Cuomo said. “I’m very lucky. I have a wife, who loves me and keeps me fed.
“A lot of people are fighting this alone. And I can’t imagine that. I can barely, you know, keep it together.”
The two traded quips and engaged in ratings-grabbing banter.
“You look good. You sound good,” Gov. Cuomo told his younger brother during the conference.
“I know sometimes we joke. I’m not going to do that. Rule is you never hit a brother while he is down,” the governor said.
Chris described how, during his fever from the coronavirus, his brother came to him in a dream.
“You had on a very interesting ballet outfit, and you were dancing in the dream, and you were waving a wand and saying, ‘I wish i could wave my wand and make this go away,’ and then you spun around and danced away,” Chris Cuomo said.
“Obviously the fever has affected your mental capacity,” said the governor.
Andrew Cuomo has been praised for his straight talk during his daily briefings, which are watched by tens of thousands as people have been forced to stay in their homes.  A Siena College poll released Monday shows 87 percent of eligible voters approve of the job Cuomo is doing handling the outbreak.
