Suzie Lucke found out on March 17 she would need spinal fusion surgery to repair a herniated disc in her thoracic spine. That was the same day Gov. Mike DeWine ordered hospitals to cancel non-essential surgeries — hers among them — to preserve equipment for COVID-19 patients. While Lucke waits, she worries about the unknown future. If she hurts her back again during quarantine, she could be paralyzed.
