Teddy ❤️

The Dachshund comes from Germany, where the breed was probably purposefully bred from the fox hound in the Middle Ages. Since the late 19th century, there have been official breeds that have made the dachshund accessible to non-breed animal lovers, and the breeding standard was not made until 1925.

The name of the breed already indicates its field of application: the German "Dachshund" (= badger) was a reliable companion of hunters and was used for the hunting of badger and foxes independently. The short legs allow them to enter the holes of the badger and foxes. In fact, the job of these dogs is to drive the prey out of their "home" - not to fight the wildlife themselves. But above the ground, he also showed the versatile qualities of the four-legged hunter, for he also excelled in tracing. Dachshunds are a popular companion dog these days and are very rarely used as hunting dogs.

The story of the dachshund: from a noble dog to a divate

Famous lovers of the breed included Bonaparte Napoleon, for example, who liked to paint himself with his dachshunds and even called one of his four-legged "Napoleon". His last forks were placed in their final resting place beside the sarcophagus of the world-famous ruler.

Dachshunds, used as hunting dogs, have long been a source of nobility, so some gentlemen have let their four-legged pet wrap them around their paws. II. The German Emperor William also commemorated his favorite forks with the inscription "Andenken an meinen treuen Dachshund Erdmann (1890-1901) Wilhelm II" (= Loyal Dachshund in memory of Erdmann (1890-1901). William II). II. Elizabeth, a British queen whose passion for corgis is well known, cannot resist the charm of the Dakshlis: she even breeds so-called "dorgikat" from a cross between Dachshunds and Corgis. In addition, the artists appreciated the smart badger and let it inspire them: the painter Pablo Picasso and Lump were inseparable, as many photographs of the harmonic duo clearly prove. In many of his works, artist Andy Warhol has captured his favorites, Archie and Amos.

After the Dachshund was no longer the privilege of the nobles, it quickly conquered the hearts of dog-friendly dogs across Europe. Mostly in Germany people crawled with short-legged dogs in the city and in the woods - they became a popular family dog with overwhelming speed. At the 1972 Munich Olympics, the Germans made this known throughout the world: the mascot of the big sporting event was the Waldi colored dachshund (Dachshund), who represented the hosts as a "typical German". Nowadays, dakshles are more of a curiosity than fashion because they are rarely seen on the streets. In Germany, the fortress of dachshund lovers, the number of announced Dachshund puppies has been declining for years.

This is probably due to an increase in the number of other breeds of the same size: from Jack Russell Terrier to Pug, every breed of dog is available - there is simply more choice today. The occasional occasional mockery of the breed, also known as "sausage dog", despite the famous-infamous nodding dogs decorating the hat rack, is still much appreciated by the wise and self-conscious companion.

Character: charming, but stubborn

Small dog, high self-awareness: due to its original application and self-employment, it has a high level of self-awareness during hunting. This may involve the potential for conflict - often with larger dogs - because some Dachshunds deny them the respect they desire. Because Dachshunds are dogs that work on their own, they like to determine how things develop. There are minorities of individuals who will be please, so they are excited about the new task from their master to make them happy. This means for dachshund lovers that loving but consistent parenting must begin at the dachshund puppy age! It also strengthens the bond between the dog and man, which must be carefully built against their representatives. Even though they tend to show little respect for their four-legged and two-legged counterparts, they are generally considered to be well-balanced companions who are neither shy nor aggressive.🙆🏿‍♂️😎
