A DETERMINED 32-year-old man, who lost half his body weight just through diet and exercise, is proud of the excess skin that’s left behind. He says that “having a little bit of loose skin is nothing compared to walking around with all of the excess weight.” Heath Thompson, from Iowa, started binge eating when he was 13 and weighed 477lbs at the age of 27. He realised he needed to make a change after the doctor warned him he is at high risk of having a heart attack by the age of 30. Five years later, Heath has lost an astonishing 227lbs, weighing in at 250lbs. The 32-year-old told Truly: “I didn't know how bad I felt until I started to feel good.” Heath discovered a passion for fitness and a healthy diet, which even led him to become a nutrition coach. He said: “I'm grateful for the journey. For a long time growing up, I was asking, ‘Why is this happening to me? Why me?’ Now I know the answer to that – so I could share my story to inspire others.” Heath’s goal is to inspire others to become the best version of themselves: “When you decide you want to do something, know that there's going to be bumps in the road. It's never going to be a straight line from one point to the other.”
