The coronavirus has reached every continent except Antarctica, but it doesn't infect all patients equally.
A CDC study of more than 44,000 coronavirus patients found that patients over age 80 have a 15% chance of dying.
Business Insider reports patients in their 50s were about three times more likely to die than patients in their 40s.
Those in their 50s have a 1.3% chance of dying, whereas those in their 40s have a 0.4% chance of dying.
Patients aged 39 to infancy only have 0.2% chance of dying from the coronavirus.
The risk of dying is far higher among patients in their 70s and 80s, likely because many of those people have pre-existing health issues.
Coronavirus patients with heart disease, for instance, had an about 10% mortality rate. Those with diabetes had roughly a 7% mortality rate.
