Cop exploits power to bypass traffic

Watch how a CT state trooper deals with light traffic. As he sees brake lights up ahead, he turns on his red and blue lights and cuts across the highway into the carpool lane. Is this abuse of power?

Driving down a highway in CT, traffic seems to be moving along nicely. A cop passes in the fast lane, in a hurry as they usually are. As traffic begins to slow up ahead, brake lights come on and the cop begins to slow down. He has no other option that to wait patiently, right? Well this one had something else up his sleeve.

At the last minute the cop turns on his overhead lights, seemingly in an emergency, and swerves to the left. But then he simply crosses the median and into the carpool lane to bypass traffic. The cop continues to speed down the carpool lane, past all the law abiding suckers.
