Stabilized-Sky Time-lapse Visualizes Earth's Rotation
Occurred on August 6, 2016 / Anza-Borrego Desert, California, USA
Info from Licensor: "This video helps us visualize that it's the Earth that rotates, not the sky. We all know that's the case (most of us, anyway), but we don't directly perceive it that way. Eric was able to use a star tracker to stabilize the sky, and drive home the fact that we're all on a giant spinning rock flying through space.
A star tracker is effectively a mini equatorial mount, which is a common device in the realm of astronomy and astrophotography. It is rarely used to capture time-lapses, however.
This time-lapse features the Milky Way, a popular subject for night photography. The footage was captured in August 2016, at Font's Point in the Anza-Borrego Desert in California."
