O Quy Ho pass is called by the name of O Quy Ho village, located next to 4D highway, now it belongs to O Quy Ho ward, Sa Pa town. The name of the village is in H'Mong language, but people from far away prefer to call "O Quy Ho" with a softer pronunciation. In addition, the name Hoang Lien Pass, or Hoang Lien Son Pass, is formed by a pass that passes over the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, or May Pass because it is covered by clouds all year round.
