This is the moment the Russian authorities release a tranquillised bear back into the wild after it gave cops and wouldn't leave during a two-night walkabout in a village.

The brown bear (Ursus arctos), believed to be about one year old, was first spotted in the village of Solyanoye in the western Russian republic of Chuvashia where it frightened residents over two nights, according to reports.

The stocky mammal was then seen approaching the city of Cheboksary in the same region and the authorities tried to drive it back into the wilderness.
