Family Of Goats Gather For a Thanksgiving Meal

Aldor Acres Family Farm is a great place to visit for some fun. This small family run farm has been in operation for thirty years. Starting in 1988 the Anderson Family opened their farm to the public in Glen Valley, located 5kms east of Beautiful Fort Langley, British Columbia. The main crop on the farm is pumpkins, and that is where they say it all began. Owners and grandparents, Albert and Dorothy (Al-Dor) put a small sign and a jar at the end of the road back in 1988 and started selling pumpkins on the honour system. Little did they know, it would become a hit. Soon enough they were giving tractor-drawn hayrides out to the pumpkin patch and providing an educational, hands-on farm experience for guests. The farm is open to the public year round, with different activities for each season. Spring and summer offer farm tours, baby animals at Easter, and Farm Kid Camps. October brings 20 acres of pumpkin patches and 5 acres of petting zoos and animal displays. December welcomes Christmas Trees and roasting marshmallows around the campfire. How fun would it be to roast marshmallows on an open fire? That sounds familiar doesn’t it? On a recent visit, Sandy had some laughs watching a small group of goats enjoying a meal within the barn. Being near Canadian Thanksgiving, which is on October 14 this year, it seemed fitting this is what the goats were all gathering for. These goats are quite comical. “Some are very bossy” Sandy mentioned. Watching them slowly parade in for a snack was cute. Some would make room for the smaller goats while the big old bossy goat just wanted to head butt every goat that came near him. Seems he figured the rest of the herd was going to steal his share of hay. Aldor Acres is a great farm for kids and adults, bunnies, and of course kittens are throughout the area. Who doesn’t love kitties and baby bunnies. The family of Aldor Acres also offer birthday parties and farm tours so there is something for everyone. Make sure to visit if you are in the area.
