Lion Cubs Caught Play Fighting At Edinburgh Zoo
Watch this adorable video where three lion cubs play with each other while their mother watches. The small felines are in full combat, it is impossible that your heart does not melt with such tenderness to see them play in this way so innocent, as in most cases to see a lion makes our blood freeze. Lions are wild animals and voracious predators, they are kings of the jungle and excellent hunters of large prey, but we can ignore all this when we have the joy of seeing baby lions like these, which are at a very early age, being just puppies, these lions have not had experience with the wild world, as they were born in the Edinburgh Zoo of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
These beautiful little ones steal attention from the cameras, they are the zoo's spoiled ones and the workers love to see them play, something only they can do, as these adorable lions are not yet in public view. At 6 weeks of life they are still considered too small to be open to so many people, so we seek that these babies have total tranquility and can enjoy this beautiful stage in harmony with their mother, who from her lair watches them play. It is known that lionesses are very jealous with their young and this is another reason why it is not convenient to expose the young at such an early age, it could be dangerous for visitors to the zoo if the lioness feels threatened, her mother instinct is dominated by the ferocity of this species.
These lion cubs are not common African lions, they are a subspecies called "Asian Lions". This litter of lions is in captivity at the Edinburgh Zoo, these pups are treated with great care and all zoo staff are watching their development, as this lion species is in high danger of extinction. This zoo is home to 5 Asian lions, which are these small 3 offspring with their mother "Roberta" and finally Jayendra, the father of these adorable lions, which is known to be very affectionate and always be on the lookout for his family. This family of lions are of great importance for the prevalence of this species of lions, so the lion puppies remain protected, to ensure that they are in a more advanced stage of development and have peace in their environment, the little ones are still being nursed by their mother Roberta, and are periodically evaluated by local specialists so that their health is not affected in any way.
Originally the lioness Roberta had given birth to 5 specimens of Asian lions but two of them died, since then it was a challenge to be care of the other survivors and make sure to maintain this beautiful species of lions. Alison MacLean, the carnivore manager at the Edinburgh Zoo, states that both the puppies and the mother are in perfect health but that one should also be cautious at this early stage, as it is estimated that young lions in a wild environment are prone to die before reaching 1 year old of one's life or before reaching adulthood.
