$5.6M grant will help solve Tri-State's firefighter-EMT shortage

Many local fire departments can't afford to pay a full roster of full-time firefighter EMTs, so they rely on part-timers. They're affordable while departments have them, but they often leave for a full-time position elsewhere in a hurry. This grant money will allow local fire departments like Liberty Township to hire more firefighters — full-timers who will stick around throughout their careers.
