Deer teaches her fawn how to pick apples
It's really easy to forget that we are not the only living beings living on this planet. We're trapped in our concrete jungles, escaping the scorching heat and the freezing icy winters in the sanctity of our homes. The only contact with the outside world are photographs and videos of animals living freely in the wild. But they are here, we share the same oxygen, we share the food, the water, the ups and downs of the climate changes. Love for animals has only increased as time has gone on. This day we can see lots of animals, whither it is dogs, cats being the most dominant but also pigs, rabbits, hedgehogs and many more that were previously known as eatables now have become completely domesticated.
The white-tailed deer, also known as the whitetail or Virginia deer, is a medium-sized deer native to North America, Central America, Ecuador, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia. These whitetail deer were recorded in Princeton, British Columbia. One of the smaller species of deer, these white tails measure between 80-100 centimeters or 32-40 inches tall. Ranging in weight from 48 kilograms for a large female, or 105 pounds, to a large male weighing in around 68 kilograms or 150 pounds. During a late afternoon in Princeton, Sandy the homeowner where this apple tree was, had the pleasure to be able to watch this family of deer enter her yard to enjoy an afternoon snack. Sandy lives right next to a river that flows through this small town of Princeton so she is fortunate enough to see many different types of wildlife pass through her yard and along the river bank.
This specific day, Sandy and her husband were sitting inside as she noticed a mama deer and her two young fawn wandering the yard. After a few minutes, mama deer walked near the apple tree that has been a beautiful tree in the yard for many years. Keeping an eye out, mama deer could surely see Sandy and Richard inside their home, and she slowly proceeded to nibble some of the sweet leaves from the apple tree. The two young deer curiously wandered nearby as mama showed them how to reach the leaves that were slightly out of reach. Ingenuity is the mother of invention they say, but in this case it is instinct. Standing high on her back legs, mama deer was able to grasp and nibble many sweet apple tree leaves and an actual apple here and there for the half hour that the three enjoyed Sandy's yard. How gorgeous these animals are and what a special treat to be able to be so close as they enjoy a meal.
