A great-grandfather whose first job was collecting golf balls on a course 70 years ago, was delighted when he scored his first ever hole-in-one.

Edward Grierson, 81, earned pocket money as a child by collecting balls on Routenburn Golf Club, Largs, North Ayrshire, where his uncle was the head greenkeeper.

The schoolboy was keen to learn how to play, and took up the sport aged 11 years old.

But despite his determination, Edward never managed to score a hole-in-one in seven decades of teeing off.

This video was filmed 6th September 2019.
