A judge blocked a new rule that would bar almost all asylum applications at the U.S.-Mexico border, says Reuters. Judge Jon Tigar in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued a preliminary injunction blocking the rule. The rule would require asylum-seekers to first pursue safe haven in a third country on their way to the U.S. A different judge had allowed the new rule to go forward earlier on Wednesday in a separate lawsuit in Washington.
