While critics weren’t happy with Disney’s “The Lion King,” audiences still enjoyed the film. According to Business Insider, the movie received 54 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. They called it a “cinematic expression of the kind of toxic nostalgia that has infiltrated our national discourse.” In contrast, audiences gave “The Lion King” an 89 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film earned $185 million in the U.S., making it the biggest domestic July debut ever.
