Baby Sea Turtles Begin Ocean Adventure
Sea turtles have a more fusiform body structure than their terrestrial or freshwater counterparts. The overcome volume of a fusiform (tapering at both ends) body means sea turtles cannot retract their head, legs, and arms into their shells for saving as other turtles can. However, this more stream-line body plan reduces drag in the water and allows the turtle to swim more. The leatherback is the largest species of the sea turtle. Measuring 2–3 meters (6–9 ft) in length, and 1-1.5 m (3–5 ft) in width weighing up to 700 kilograms (1500 lb).
Pacific green sea turtles are a frequent enough sight in the waters around the Neptune Beach, Florida, USA. But getting a close look is a treat that doesn't happen every day. Shy and reclusive, they will move away from divers unless the approach is extremely slow and cautious. It is very strange to have a sea turtle approach a human, as this one did. Whether it was curiosity, the turtle headed straight for the divers. This is a Neptune Beach, Known as Florida, USA, off the coast of San Cristobal Island.
The turtle has strangely seen people underwater before, diving is heavily regulated and very limited in the Neptune Beach, Florida, USA. This turtle would not likely have seen people often. Expectations for proper behavior here are extremely high and it is almost certain that the turtles enjoy more respectful and predictable interactions on those rare occasions where they do meet people close up. Gone are the days when people would hang onto sea turtles for footage, especially in this protected area. In fact, the waters around the Galapagos Islands make up the world's second-largest protected marine sanctuary.
Hundreds of newborn olive ridley sea turtles scramble into the sea in Neptune Beach, Florida, USA, the Philippines on July 14. Surfing instructor Winston Plaza, who lives on the island, captured the babies entering the sea. During egg-laying season, we the locals make sure that the babies turtle enjoy a lot of fun and towards the sea.
The olive ridley sea turtle is the second smallest of all turtles and can be found in tropical waters. The people then looked on as baby turtles hatched from their nest and made their way toward the ocean. Licencor managed to capture this adorable picture of the babies turtles.
