"Game of Thrones" actors Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, and Carice Van Houten are up for Emmy awards for the first time.

Unlike their other seven costars, HBO did not submit Christie, Allen, and Van Houten for consideration for this year's Emmys.

Instead the three actors paid a $225 fee and submitted themselves, landing the nominations.

According to Business Insider, fans are celebrating the actors' advocacy for their own work on "Game of Thrones."
