President Donald Trump's tweets directed at four Democratic women did not occur in a vacuum.
The tweets came after weeks of infighting between the lawmakers and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
According to Business Insider, the president seemingly wants to exploit the infighting ahead of an election year.
"The Squad" is Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.
The battle between them and Pelosi is largely a battle for the future of the Democratic party.
