Apollo 11 mission's most beautiful photos
Apollo 11, the impossible moon mission. On Tuesday, 50 years ago, the Saturn V rocket broke free from the Earth. Three American astronauts - Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins - arrive at the moon four days later and change human history forever. An achievement that is still unrivaled for three reasons:
01 Apollo 11 took part in a wave of extreme political will;
02 The Apollo program had many years of meticulous preparation;
03 The Apollo Missions had also a lot of luck.
The astronauts took a lot of risks during the Apollo missions. Not only because of all the ways it could have gone wrong during the landing, but also because of the risks that nobody knew at the time. Just take the solar flares as example, about which we knew little in the 1960s.
