A Special Event Celebrating Black Church Culture
The Better Project Awareness Foundation is hosting their first annual Black History in July Celebration, focused on celebrating “Black Church Culture” with an emphasis on hymns and hymn-style singing. Award winning, singer, songwriter and gospel music pioneer V. Michael Mckay will lead a masterclass entitled “Hymns for Him”. This conversation will provide a glimpse into the history of hymn-style singing, examine its influence on other popular genres of music and platform its relevance within today’s modern culture. Joining us with the details are Chris Crain and Chauntel McKenzie. The Black History in July: Hymns for Him event is happening Saturday, July 27 at 1pm at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are just $30 and available at Ticketmaster.com or at the Marcus Center box office.
