Huffpost.com reports Hawaii is giving more nonbinary gender options on state-issued IDs.
House Bill 1165 adds options beyond “male” and “female” on driver’s licenses and state IDs.
A third gender option, "X", will officially be available starting July 1st, 2020.
The legislation hopes to reduce discrimination against individuals who do not identify as male or female.
These individuals will not have to provide documentation to prove their gender.
