The Government Accountability Office has issued a warning to critical federal agencies.
According to Gizmodo, the GAO says they should stop relying on credit agencies to verify identities.
The warning comes after a devastating hack of Equifax in 2017 that compromised the information of around 150 million Americans.
Those agencies currently verify identities by cross-checking it with credit files provided by Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion.
