Taking a look at Canada’s new statutory holiday and what it really means

Bill C-139 proposes a new federal statutory holiday in Canada honoring indigenous people and, specifically, the legacy and survivors of the residential school system. If the bill receives a royal assent, The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be federally observed across Canada on September 30th.
