President Donald Trump recently proposed a tariff on al Mexican goods as a threat. According to Reuters, he’s trying to fore Mexico to stop the surge of undocumented immigrants at the border. Yet the proposal is likely to be challenged in court and will test the president's emergency powers. Trump cited the International Emergency Economic Powers Act as the reason for being able to impose tariffs. The law is normally used to impose sanctions on countries and has never been used in this way.
