According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, China's foreign ministry said that China hopes Canada understands the consequences of siding with the United States, after US Vice President Mike Pence called for the release of two Canadians detained in China. Canadian businessman Michael Spavor and former diplomat Michael Kovrig have reportedly been detained by Chinese authorities since December, shortly after Canada arrested China-based Huawei Technologies CFO, Meng Wanzhou, on a US warrant.
