Patrick Cullen, village historian and retired bank president says that the Village of Cattaraugus is the perfect place for the American Cutlery Museum. He says "we decided that nobody else is celebrating this wonderful rich history, we should." Originally meant to celebrate the work of the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company, the museum now features "edge instruments" from everywhere and all time periods, including Civil War pieces as well as homemade ones. Patrick says that the museum is more than a collection of old stuff it's a collection of "stories". Open Thursday to Sunday 1-4 PM, the museum is run by volunteers. You can find more information on their website. The American Cutlery Museum is located at 9 Main St. Cattaraugus, NY 14719
