Terry Stiles was convicted of punching and shaking Carl Leggett Jr. when the boy was five months old, leaving him with permanent brain damage that would hobble him for life. Leggett died last weekend at 14. Prosecutors believe those early childhood injuries could be the cause — but can Stiles be held legally responsible?
