According to a report by the New York Times, on Thursday, unidentified administration officials said that US President Donald Trump has told acting defense secretary Patrick Shanahan, he does not want to go to war with Iran. Reuters reports that the Times claims that the Republican president made the comment to Shanahan on Wednesday morning during a White House briefing on rising tensions with Iran.
