Every year the Colorado Teacher of the Year Program honors an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled K-12 classroom teacher. That teacher is honored not only here in Colorado, but automatically becomes Colorado’s nominee for the National Teacher of the Year competition, even attending a ceremony honoring teachers from across the nation in Washington, DC. The 2019 Colorado Teacher of the year is Margaret "Meg" Cypress, a fifth-grade teacher at Denver’s Bradley International School. Ms. Cypress was selected for the honor based on her energy and for her exceptional ability to inspire and excite students, parents, other teachers, administrators.
