According to Reuters, the Mississippi River has reached record high levels in the area of Rock Island, Illinois. The higher-than-normal water levels are due to melting heavy snowpack coupled with rain. Other parts of the Mississippi were experiencing major flooding on Friday along the Iowa-Illinois border, but they're not expected to reach the same historic levels. Hydrologist Justin Palmer said the river will remain "vulnerable for the rest of the season."
