Marines honored for bravery during 1 October shooting

Two heroes received a rare honor this week for their bravery during the 1 October mass shooting. Marine Sergeant Austin Cox and former Sergeant Michael Vura risked their lives to saves others during the tragedy, including 23- year-old Katrina Hannah who was shot twice in her neck and shoulder. Sergeant Cox created a makeshift stretcher out of a gate and got Katrina to a hospital. Both marines are from San Diego. Katrina's mom honored her daughter's heroes at a special ceremony on Aptil 29 at Camp Pendleton. They each received the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, which is the highest non-combat decoration awarded for heroism. Today, Katrina is doing well. Her mother says she is doing mission work in Peru.
